Never before in the history of mankind has life been so fast-paced, so full of distractions, and so over-loaded with information. Especially as leaders we find ourselves on the frontlines of a battle that requires spiritual strength and stamina few were trained for.
Henri Nouwen explains it like this:
“Our life is full of brokenness - broken relationships, broken promises, broken expectations. How can we live with that brokenness without becoming bitter and resentful except by returning again and again to God’s faithful presence in our lives?”
An Invitation to Retreat
The word “retreat” has been compromised in our language and understanding. In the business world it usually involves extended days spent off-site, where every moment is planned and controlled.
In church circles, we have retreats for planning, team building, men’s women’s and couples retreats, or any other form of training event.
We are talking about “retreat” as a spiritual practice, and what we mean is an extended time apart for the purpose of being with God and giving God our full and undivided attention - a generous commitment to our friendship with God. There comes a time in every believer’s life when we yearn for more of God than our schedules will allow.
Because if the current situation it has been difficult to arrange group retreats, but there is something even more powerful: An Individual Retreat.
Come and stay with us for a while - a few days, one week, two or three - whatever time you can get away for.
We offer you a simple, cozy room, all meals, daily spiritual direction and prayer (if desired). We'll help you get going on some spiritual exercises, you can borrow some great books, but most of all: rest! Norrtälje is less than one hour from Stockholm, right at the heart of the archipelago that draws many guests every year. In the 18th century it was part of a great revival that swept over the region, and there are a number of active churches in town.

Jesus said, “Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest.” (Mark 6:31)
